Advanced Motion Methods

This is a collection of projects I did during winter 2023 Advanced Motion Methods course from School of Motion, taught by Sander van Dijk.

“In Advanced Motion Methods you'll learn how to structure animations according to geometric proportions found in nature, deal with complexity, create cool transitions, and learn tips that only a seasoned After Effects veteran can. This course is built for working professionals that are looking for mentorship to push themselves to add more to their compositions and push themselves to the next level.”

Motion DNA

The lessons in this project were all about making more complex transitions, managing a “huge” amount of assets and building rigs using expressions to optimise the work flow. We were provided 5 style frames by Laura Alejo, which can be seen underneath the video.

Brief:

Science Addicts Unite is a site being launched to teach science in more modern, engaging ways. They’ll be producing long form and mini-content designed to engage learners by showing how cool science can be.

This roughly :20 second long spot will run on YouTube and social media, and should really wow the viewer with the design, animation, and message. There isn’t a clear call to action other than showing the URL on the end card because we want to attract curious people to the site.

Blend 3015

Blend 3015

Brief:

Welcome to the 500th bi-annual Blend Conference which is being held in the Utopia Basin Amphitheater on Mars this year. We’ll be celebrating the milestones that both human kind and MoGraphers like yourself have accomplished since our first conference in 2015. As a throw-back to the past, we want you to animate some boards created by Lucas Brooking and Gareth O’Brien. These boards have a similar look and feel to the original animation that was created for that very first Blend.
